This is probably the most dangerous watersport of all because it has the largest number of deaths and injuries occurred during this sport. However, there is a very low risk of death, but it still can happen during this watersport. The main cause of death and injuries is, of course, the water because rafting is an extreme sport where people take on some very extreme rivers and sometimes if people are inexperienced they fall out of the raft into the wild river and if they are not good swimmers they can easily drown. That’s why you will always have a team of professionals when you are first doing this to ensure your safety. It is not recommended for people that don’t know how to swim to try out this or any other dangerous watersport.

With rafting, the dangers that you can have other than drowning are hypothermia and of course, the most obvious one that can happen to every other sport is equipment failure. Every person that wants to try out rafting, should be well aware of all these risks, otherwise, the situations can be even worse if you don’t expect them. That is mainly because in those situations you don’t know how to act and what to do in order to stay safe.

Kayaking is one of the watersports that can be both very safe and very dangerous, the reason for that is the environment that you are taking on, more specifically the water. For example, if you want to kayak on a lake that has almost no boat traffic, the risks are almost to none other than drowning if you somehow manage to fall out in the water. However, the more dangerous side of kayaking is kayaking in waters that have many rapids. The scenario will become just like rafting, just now you will be on your own and you will be making the decisions and your physical state will decide whether you are prepared or not.

Kayaking in waters full of rapids if extremely dangerous because the water can be very cold and you are constantly exposed to it, and it can lead to hypothermia if you are not careful.
