Important update regarding Track Passes & Memberships
1-12-11
OCA Working Members and Track Pass Holders,
As many of you are aware, there was a vote put before the club at the end of 2011 regarding the status of Track Passes for 2012. It was voted upon and agreed that Track Passes will be eliminated for 2012 and OCA will return to having working memberships only.
Recognizing that many Track Pass holders are interested in retaining an opportunity to ride at OCA, there will be an increase in the current membership cap of 80 working members (excluding Life-Time and Charter members) of 40, bringing the total potential working membership to 120.
To be fair to everyone that is interested, it has been determined that if you are interested in becoming a full OCA Club Member, that you attend the January Club Meeting that is scheduled for next Tuesday, January 17, in the Roy Library Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.. You will there be given the opportunity on a first-come first-serve basis to request a club membership during this open enrollment.
Please note that it has been a long-standing rule in the OCA By-Laws, that to obtain club membership it should be done at a club meeting. Contained below is an excerpt from the OCA by-laws regarding new memberships:
A. Any person of good moral character, proposed by a member in good standing and accepted by majority vote of the general membership present may become a member provided they are willing to accept and perform all requirements of the organization.
B. Initial working membership dues will be determined annually. Currently $200
C. Working memberships are accepted only at regular scheduled meetings. The working member cap is set at 80 members. This number will not include charter or lifetime memberships.
D. New Members are accepted only at regular Scheduled meetings. The Member cap is set at 80 members excluding Charter and Lifetime Members. Current members in good standing will be able to renew regardless of cap.
E. Immediate Family of current members will be allowed to obtain their own membership when they move from home regardless of member cap.
It is recommended, that if you are interested, that you have a current OCA member in attendance who can vouch for your interest and commitment to a working membership. It is also VERY important to note that the initial cost of a club membership is $500 for the first year, and then $200 each year thereafter. Club members currently require a minimum 40 hour annual work requirement, or a 60 hour annual work requirement if there is more than one rider over the age of 12 in the immediate household.
We recognize there will certainly be a lot of questions and concerns about this. We also recognize that despite being “non-working”, we have had many Track Pass holders who have made valuable contributions of time and resources to the club over the past several years. We thank all of those individuals, and invite them to come to the meeting Tuesday and become full OCA club members.
